Four Seasons Owner Pat paddles on the last row, helping her team to win
a gold medal in 2008!
The 2nd annual Dagon Boat Race and festival at beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina will be on May 16, 2009. You can walk to the festivities from Four Seasons Cottages & Cabins!
Lake Lure’s “Lure of the Dragons” race and festival combines fun festivities with team building and exciting competition! With drums pounding out stroke cadence, twenty-eight corporate and community teams will paddle 250 meters down the Rocky Broad River in 30-foot long dragon boats, all dressed out in dragon heads, tails and scales, competing for first place, all in the name of charity! All teams will have a chance to learn and practice the basics of paddling a dragon boat the week before race day. It’s very similar to paddling a canoe, but ten people paddle while one teammate is beating out a cadence on the dragon drum. Sounds like fun? It is!
It’s a fundraiser for kids! All the fun and excitement is for a good cause. Through our sponsors and team pledges, the event is a major fundraiser for non-profit programs and services for area youth. WE ARE RACING FOR THE KIDS.
